Mike Collins has a property background, having been involved in property economics, real estate valuation, property consultancy and asset management for over 40 years, and is professionally qualified in property economics and valuation.  He runs his own property advisory company based in the Sydney CBD which provides services to the public and private sectors throughout New South Wales .

In addition to his activities in the mainstream commercial market place, Mike has long been interested and involved in the public, community and cultural dimensions of property and this shows in his involvement in the delivery of a range of important cultural and public venues in Sydney.

He negotiated the NSW Government's purchase of the Darling Harbour development site and the redevelopment of Sydney 's theatrical icon, the 2,000 seat Capitol Theatre.  He also oversaw the refurbishment and reopening of one of Sydney 's most important heritage buildings, Customs House, and negotiated the delivery of the 1,200-seat City Recital Hall in Angel Place .

Mike was also heavily involved in the planning and delivery of the year 2000 Sydney Olympics.  He was a member of the Government's Task Force for the master planning of the Olympic site at Homebush Bay and was the Government’s retained property consultant for all property matters associated with the Olympic Games.

He is Chairman of the NSW Land and Housing Supply Task Force, appointed by the NSW Government to monitor land and housing supply in NSW and to make recommendations for improvements in the way land and housing is delivered.

Mike is a Board Member of the Redfern Waterloo Authority and Australian Technology Park.

He is the former Chairman of the NSW Government’s Barangaroo Delivery Authority, which is responsible for the delivery of Australia’s largest urban renewal project on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour, and a major priority of the NSW Government.

He is also a former Chairman of Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority.

Mike is the immediate past Chair of the NSW Heritage Council, having completed a 10-year term as a Heritage Council member in December 2007, including three years as Deputy Chair and six years as Chair.

As a member of the Australian Property Institute, Mike was the API’s NSW President for a term of three years from 1999-2001.  He subsequently served as National President of the Institute in 2003/4.  He has served on many Institute committees, has published articles in the API Journal and delivered papers at many API and property industry seminars and workshops.

Mike has served on many industry committees for Government.  He has been appointed to a number of design excellence juries on behalf of the City of Sydney and chaired the urban design and architectural competition juries for two of Sydney ’s largest current developments - Meriton’s World Tower site and Leighton’s KENS site in the CBD.

Mike’s Qualifications and affiliations include: 

 - Fellow, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS)

 - Registered Valuer No. 2084, without limitations
